
This study shows that EEG coherence increases between and within the cerebral hemispheres during Transcendental Meditation. In other words TM enhances brain-wave coherence
EEG coherence is a quantitative index of the degree of long-range spatial ordering of the brain waves. The chart on the left shows that for a 2-week meditator, EEG coherence increased during the period of meditation.
The chart on the right, of a 2-year meditator, shows high levels of coherence. This occurred even before meditation began spreading of coherence to high and lower frequencies about half way through the meditation period. There was continuing high coherence even into the eyes-opened period after meditation.

TM enhances brain-wave coherence not just in the individual but in society as a whole

But, in addition, every time you meditate you radiate blessings to your family, your community and your whole nation. This is because you are contributing to the amazing 1% effect. You see, TM isn’t just about enhancing our own brain-wave coherence. Another major facet is that meditators also have a powerful influence on the brain wave coherence of people in their local environment. As a result, if as little as 1% of the population meditate, then negative trends in society reverse. For instance with generally improved brain functioning, crime in the area spontaneously reduces.
